Getting there from one of the many freeways in the area will take you across one of the main bridges crossing the water from Oakland into Alameda.

a picture of it on my rounds. It's the least visually pleasing of the bunch, so...

Harbor Bay Bridge goes from Harbor Bay Island (an extended chunk of Alameda which is actually attached to the mainland of Oakland by the airport) to Alameda proper.
